Elective Courses
The Mandala Clinical Intervention for Mindfulness teaches students the interplay of neurobiology with visual art-making. It is a simple ritual meditative painting and breathing program, focusing on the somatic experience of each individual. You will experience self-care, and learn how this technique is applicable for client assessment, clinical intervention, and treatment for specific clients.

In this experiential, elective course, students will apply theories of neurosequential art therapy, protective factors and resilience, and trauma-informed approaches to their own practices. This course is based on the film ‘Drawn by Experience’. It explores children impacted by their parents’ trauma.

TAPPs Two 2 "The Media Continuum"
Throughout the four classes, students will explore how the use of media helps to express emotions without words.  They will experience for themselves a range of media and discuss the feelings evoked when using each one. Course overview: 
  • Two dimensional and three- dimensional work, large and small: 
  • Playing with form and size, including symbolism 
  • Contained versus fluid-understanding the range of media and its impact on the emotional and somatic experience 
  • Media and play: the importance of process over product in relation affective expression
